Re: growing up tip

Tom,

In some cases the ends of the vine grow way up in the air. It's possible
that at some point gravity wins and they crash down. Although I had one
that was way up there and the tip came off and what was left of the vine was
still sticking way up - the part that came off wasn't that heavy so I don't
think it was gravity. I also had one pretty spectacular blowout on a big
main vine that was flat on the ground. I believe it's because they are
growing too fast. ?? Not real sure.

My husband says I've got these things so juiced up they think they're oak
trees, growing up in the air like that. All mine are doing it this year.
Tonight I came home and one big burly secondary was higher than my waist.
Unfortunately I looked at it crooked (ok, ok, maybe I accidentally bumped
it) and it went over, splitting the vine.

My plants are really charged up this year, AND we've had a lot of rain. I
think the folks who have suggested rain as the culprit may be right on
target.

Beth
