Re: PUMPKIN PROBLEM

Mike
No dought if your at 110 heat index. On hot days like that, make sure
the ground is wet, sun radiates off the dry dirt and burns. No two
plants are the same, some plants wilt as others will thrive under the
same conditions. I myself had some heat damamge the other day with 85 *
temp and foggers go figure. Fogging system such as black 1/2" drip
tubing suspended between steel fence post and wired. Any sprinkler shop
will carry a fogger or mister head no more than 1 gal/ hour. The ones we
use are a screw in plastic head that push a small spike into the tubing.
Think 25 sell for $15 or so. Place rows of foggers 20 ft apart and
misters down these rows at every 5 feet. Start on the pervailing wind
side and that will carry the mist across the patch. Every hot climate
grower is in need of cooling. The can be set up on a timer system coming
on at 11am an off at 5 pm. I would reccomend also that a filter is in
place or misters will clog. If they do and they will, un-screw the head
and turn upside down over the housing, this will flush the tip 90% of the
time. Hope this helps and good luck.
