Dave: Sounds like you have downy mildew or powdery mildew (see pict)
You need to use a fungicide such as Captan, Benlate ,Benomyl.
keep the leaves dry, water from below (soaker hose) destroy or throw out
dead plant matter do not compost it burn it or trash it.

the show. Yes, this list has used up a lot of my time, but it's answered a
lot of my questions regarding growing BP's.
I won't tell you that I've three 4x12 raised beds in my back yard in
suburban
Milwuakee for fear that the pro's will tell me to give it up. I'm going for
something in the low 3-digits so I don't have any weigh-offs planned. My
pumpkins look fantastic and have runners out about 4 to 5 feet and I'm
getting excited about pollination. I've never seen such big leaves on a
plant. (must be the secret mixtue of beer and cheese that I feed them)
Which brings me to the subject of mold or wilt. I've a decorative gourd
plant
with some white-ish, grey-ish mold forming on some of the older, lower
leaves, both on top and underneath of the leaves. It is planted where some
melons contracted the same thing last year and spread throughout the entire
plant. After the mold spreads over the whole leaf, the leaf turns yellowish,
then brownish, but doesn't wilt away. I haven't been able to find a picture
of this on any links so I don't have a name. I have treated with seven all
along, and also a spray insecticide soap. I'm worried that this will
continue
to spread to my good plants. Does anyone have any ideas what it is, and how
to treat it. I have removed the effected leaves and stems as they become
infected.
