Hello All,
Has anyone tried approach grafting of main vines in pumpkins?
You would take two vines side by side, laying one vine over the other. Where the vines touch you would remove a narrow slice from each stem so the wounds lay over each other. Then you would bind the vines together with long narrow strips of plastic (the kind you buy produce in, or dry cleaning bags), then seal it with wax.
Once the wound heals you could cut off the other main after the approach graft.
This would deliver a double root system to the remaining main vine.
Here is a reference on Approach Grafting;

Anyone tried to double their pleasure, double their fun?
Regards,
Tom
