Pennsy Poem...
Mid summers night, sprayin' with Sevin,
Killing Cuke Beetles, today found 11.
Squash Vine Borers, Stink Bugs too,
Make my job, so hard to do.
Protecting my plants from those pesky critters,
Learning each day from the Heavy Hitters.
Reading my posts, searchin the net,
Trying for the big one, will I? You bet!
For I have set many ladies, and am about done,
All in an effort to reach half a ton.
Growing a huge plant, isnt that tough,
Its growing large fruit, now thats really rough.
Soon Ill hear baseball and basketball sizes,
All leading up to those October prizes.
but the road that we travel, through out the season,
Can turn for the worse, for no rhyme or reason.
But lets not talk about that or think bad things,
Instead lets focus on fruit with no dill rings.
A big orange sphere, heck - for some maybe green!
This lines for Glenn, he will know what I mean.
Next week's size - a beach ball, shiny and yellow,
if it continues to grow, I'll be one happy fellow.
But tonite I think, Ill drink my Coors Light,
And map out my strategy, for the GPC site.
The total trip takes about 4 hours or so,
Altoona or bust, is where I must go.
To see Larry, and Gerry, Marv(s), Patty, and Dale,
And stand behind my beauty, right there on the scale!
I may not win, heck, I dont think I will,
but the season long effort, that was the thrill,
I had some good days, and some really bad,
but one things for sure, I'm happy - not sad!
