PS... I have toyed with the idea of companion planting a few in the
patch along with a pumpkin and let the gourd grow all over...maybe it
would repel the cuc and the borers?? Just athought....the gourd has
asingle root system and would not "rob" to much...

Dan...I hope to try the long gourds one of these days,but my experience with
gourds is they really get hit hard by the mildew around here. I grew
birdhouse gourds in 98 and 97 and had a BIG problem with mildew....i need to
spray constantly and thats usually overhead trellis stuff...thus the question
on spraying. interesting thought on the companion planting.....GlennA
