A lot depends on your definition of small. If you have a space of about 500 
square feet, which might be 30 feet by 20 feet, the size of a small 
classroom, you will ultimately have room for one plant. If they are going 
well now, have flowers and even some females that have been pollinated, then 
I think it is time to get to one plant. That is, if your space is 500 square 
feet or less, and it gets full sun for at least eight hours a day.
I grow one plant in a space that is 17 feet wide and 35 feet long. And it 
gets FULL by the middle of August.
