mark, i,ve done this for years for various reasons. upon measuring they don,t even seem to slow down in growth rate. mind you i have not grown a 900 # AG. either i seem to be stuck in the 500# range., BUT id not think that is because of cutting the main. i wouldn,t hesitate IF YOU HAD TO > NOT FOR BIGGER GROWTH . good luck craig

Has anyone ever heard of or cut off the main vine just after the pumpkin?

I had someone tell me that if you did this all the energy would go into the pumpkin.

I think he thought that any growth past the pumpkin didn't contribute as much as

the secondaries off the main between the tap root and the pumpkin.
