One factor might be the heat. How hot is it when you pollinate and the six 
hours thereafter? 80+? Could be the problem.
Are the males prime? Pick them the night before so that the bees don't get 
all the pollen before you get to them, for example.
Or, you could simply be cursed because you have not offered 2 bushels of 
prime cow dung (not horse) to the pumpkin gods, Cucur and Brit.
