Ric,
I hve been shading the ends of my new vines for the whole month with little
"puptents" made of 3ft. lengths of PCP pipe. Today even some of the shaded
ones were wilting a little.
When the pumpkin starts being exposed to sun because it is out of the full
protection of the leaf canopy, build your permanent shelters. Around now is
the time for it.
As for misters - if your plant is hurting, and shading is not enough, try
them. It is not the month, but the condition of the plant that counts.
Hope you have suffered no damage.
