Greetings all on this 4th!!!!
A quiet day in the Hester patch cause its too darn hot again today. Here's
the scoop
Site 1 900.8 Lyons- doing well. One fruit set, but it isn't a squash this
year. Looks like a nice orange fruit to be. Both 800 Edwards plants are
doing very well and identically. Only difference is one is a green squash
and the other is white pumpkin. The one 800 is as a note my only plant
throwing squash when there could have been 6 of them.
Site 2 986 Hester- Throwing nice yellow females. Very aggressive plant,
and immature fruit look promising. 616 Corkum is throwing odd fruit like my
611. They are swirley green and yellow. This plant is like a lineman in
football. Kinda slow, but thick and powerful. 730 Stellpflug is a lowrider
with average aggression and yellow babies.
Site 3 1026 Holland is still ripping. It is and has been in a dead heat
with the 611 for the most aggressive and biggest plant in the patch. not
more than 5 square feet have seperated these two all season. The 1026 is
throwing yellow babies and the 611 is throwing those swirley green and yellow
fruit. They do turn all yellow/ white after a week, but very cool at first.
it is not mosiac virus, but something...something special. Whats that?
1200? (oh great Brett, keep counting those chickens)
Site 4 801 Stelts ;-) Lisa's 846 Calai has fully recovered from the removal
of the flat main vine and is starting to really roll now.
Flag 1 968 Hester has a 14 day old fruit now measured at 35 in circ. It is
in the wrong spot and too early a pollination, but it is nice to see the
limited space of the 'flag' can push a fruit past 30" by the 14 day mark.
Fruit are starting yellow with green in the ribs, but turn yellow in a week.
Flag 2 969.5 Larue is throwing yellow fruit and is healthy, really healthy.
This is Lisas plant as well. Scary thought.
Site 5 940 Mombert is well past the 723 Bobier and is looking good. 723
Bobier is a slow poke, may be good for carving fruit. The 780 Eaton is like
the snowball effect. Small and slow at first, but now is fast and healthy.
Yellow fruit on all three here.
Site 6 Lisas full site. The 815 Checkon is having a sterility problem. The
main dosn't have a fruit yet within a week of pollination and is out over 17
feet. The plant will be a monster by the time it has a baby. The 946
Geerts, in a word, crap. It is still rolling hard. Fruit are yellow turning
to the white shade, and this will be a tough plant to beat. I hope my 611
and the 1026 are up to the task, or the Guru may get spanked in his own patch.
Site 7 850 Hester is also a huge plant with no fruit even blossomed up yet.
Huge leaves on this plant. The 935 Lloyd, well lets just say it must have
been swithched at birth.
My predictions so far....
Top fruit will come from my 611, followed by Lisas 946, the 800 Edwards, 801
Stelts, and 1026.
Take Care all,
The Pumpkinguru
