Re: advice needed !

Jenny,
I'm relatively novice also, live in WV USA. Do the bugs have any stripes or spots? Don't know if you have cuke beetles over the pond or not. We use a product by Ortho called Sevin which you may have used for them it should do the trick. If it's like the beetles over here they are nasty and hide in the flowers also. Let us know.

Subject: advice needed !

hello all

I'm new to the list ( joined yesterday ) and very much enjoyed reading my first batch of emails.

I'm a novice but enthusiastic pumpkin grower ( know very little about gardening if truth be told!) and wondered if someone could advise me. Yesterday , I  discovered some tiny black winged ( beetle-ish) looking insects inside the flowers of some of my ( precious!) crop ...Haven't got a clue what they are...nice or nasty..? ..and should I take any action?

Am growing Mammoth, Lumina, Jack-be -Little and Baby Bear...the mammoths are doing by far the best so far. Hope that we have enough sun in the north west of England to nurture some beauties...was amazed at those Fresno temps!

looking forward to some advice!

very best wishes

Jenny
