Re: Effect of Cross-Pollination on Fruit

Just my two cents on the subject................I would not go so far as to
say that it won't have ANY effect on the fruit.  The reason I say this is
because of what happened to my spaghetti squash last year..................I
was dumb and planted it right next to my AG patch, and the two plants did
cross pollinate.  The results were very interesting on the spaghetti squash
plant..............I had about 8 spaghetti squash that grew to about 5 times
the normal size of spaghetti squash, and they were predominantly colored a
very light yellowish green color with dark green stripes all over them, some
of them were "normal" length, but were very, very big in diameter, and some
of them were "normal" diameter, but were very long.  I didn't really get any
weird results on the AG's, other than small pumpkins.  So, what I learned
from this is that cross pollination CAN effect the fruit, at least in
spaghetti squash...................
