Pumpkin Addicts!
My latest update; 544 Wallace leads the pack still. Have one beach
ball size, pol. 6-27. Next is the 705 Stelts with a basketball size pol.
6-29. The 801 Stelts is right behind it with one Pol. 6-30. These are my best
plants. The 846 Cali is still a poor plant. It snake tongued on me. I let
both grow and trimmed in reverse flag pattern. Very brittle, both main vines
have snapped. The 805 Pukos, as I feared, has grown a low shoulder bell
shaped pumpkin. I've cut it off but fear the others on the plant will have a
similar shape. My 801 Stelts is a great plant with many set pumpkins. Seems
to have a classic 801 shape. They are long and time will tell if they are
blocky or tapered nose, pepper shape. My 705 Stelts is following its dads
side and looks more like the 974 Mettler. It is a big ball shape and does not
look like the 1140 Dave grew. The 544 Wallace looks like its Mom the 946.5
Geerts. This pumpkin does not look as yellow as the 705,801 sets. My 705
plant has been half eaten by the woodchuck. As this plant tries to grow new
leaves I fear it is slowing pumpkin growth. My 600est Reynolds has followed
it's Dads side and is long and looks like the 801 Stelts. A friend has one
set on his 600 and I think he said he had a cir. of 31.5" in 10 days. I had
31.5" on the 544 Wallace and 705 Stelts in 12 days. My 600 has a very yellow
vine, his is green vined. Hope the sharing of info helps.
