 It is my belief that all plants store there excess starches and primary
nutrients in the roots and "Xylem" in this case stems. Just as a rule of
thumb for horticulture in general you may loose stored nutrients if you
remove any plant part that the plant itself has designated as a storage
vessel. I personally have never culled a runner whether a secondary nor
tertiary larger than a straw.. Its just my opinion to keep the runner but
that is just my opinion...
