CA buds

Janet, good to hear from you! I have a question, but it may provoke
jokes when I'm serious.
Last week I fell in love at first sight with a pumpkin. Everything about
her is perfect, except that she's way behind the list's heavy hitters in
development. She has the longest and thickest stem I ever saw on a
pumpkin. Does this mean anything, good or bad?
I'm starting to fear varmints or other vandals have invaded. Today I
found two scratches almost like fingernail scratches on my 2nd best
punk, one about an inch long, the other twice that. What would do that?
You're ALL welcome to answer the stem question, the scratch question or
both. Thanks!
Kathie
