Hey there Chris,
Just to cheer you up, my plants are just starting to vine; our spring here in Alberta was 4 weeks later than normal...I'm hoping for a December harvest ;-) After two months of drought, we had only 1/4 " of rain....drat! This week is cool 15-18C so I put my poly tent back over it to keep the ground warmer --it works! Inside the tent, it's a healthy 28C, about 10 degrees warmer than outside it. I have some big peppers in with it too. Rest of the garden is not too shabby, specially my 5' high rhubarb! Cheers, Dave

I think the other may also be starting to show signs, think this is going to be a down year for me. :-( anyway, my theory is, it's genetic but extenuated by climatic condition, poor weather = more flat vine - cells multiplying but no heat to grow proper vines. I don't know really just stupid, i hope i have something to pollinate by the middle of this month. all the best pumpkin growers, good luck! Chris .....in the UK! |
