Kevin- Its Joe Ailts here using my in-laws
computer. Here's the best I can do:
Seems like irradiated pollen has been zapped by
some gamma rays. Pollen irradiation represents a valuable
method for inducing haploid plants especially when combined with embryo rescue.
Irradiation had no effect on pollen germination percent. These pollen
caused fruit set naturally with empty seeds. A good tool for the
production of seedless fruit.
I do see one practical application to AG's...
Everyone growing 846 "flatvine" Calai's using irradiated pollen will not be
promoting the distribution of genetic mutant seeds...hint
