Squash vine boring MUTANTS!!!

I think I may commit a heinous crime soon. I have
treated and treated for those SVB well mine must be
mutant, I went to the hill today and physically
massacred three that were freely landing on my plants
and laying eggs. I picked off what I could and treated
every freaking square inch again with a spray bottle.
What am I doing wrong? It did rain here in Indiana
yesterday do I need to reapply after every rain ? ARGH
