Does anyone put anything under their pumpkins like straw or something to prevent them from rotting, or to help them lift them out of the garden when they get huge?
Some growers use sand. Others use pieces of styrofoam. Straw sounds like a good idea... or would it hold moisture. I was going to try sand this year.
That is quite possible, like you say, if everything goesIf all goes fairly well, what would be the possible expectation for the weight of a pumpkin, that is now volleyball sized, after only an additional 30 days on the vine? I was thinking I'd like to get a couple hundred pounder for one of our local fairs which runs in mid August.
well. Cull one for your fair, and set some others to grow
full term.
