Hoping someone can clear this up for me: why is it better for
pumpkin to grow further out the vine versus closer to the stump? It seems to me
that plant energy flows both directions, from the leaves back to the stump/roots
as well visa versa.
I have two pumpkins on main vine, one pollinated july 1 @ 8',
one pollinated july 13 @ 14'. If everything else is equal, given relative
age, which one should I keep and why?
thanks, Matt P
