Re: vine turning yellow and watering questions.

Brian, if you decide to go with a sprinkler try not to water in the evening. Leaving the foliage wet all night makes the leaves susceptible to diseases.

Brian,

If your leaves are turning yellow, it usually means you aren't giving them
enough notrogen. Try some blood meal along with your regular fertilzer.
And really pour the fertilizer to them; pumpkins take lots of water and that
leaches out the fertilizer, plus, they are heavy feeders. Hope this helps.

Subject: vine turning yellow and watering questions.

I have relatively short vines on my plant (12-24 inches) I have noticed on
a
few plants they are turning yellow and the new growth is yellow. The
leaves
are all green but the vine is green near the plant then fading to yellow
as it
vines. Is this normal? Like I have said before this is my first year so I
excuse me if this is obvious. I also have a question on watering. Do most
people use sprinklers or drip. I use drip in most of my veggie garden, I
have
not set up anything in the patch yet. It seems like it would be a little
tough
to cover a whole patch this way. When I water with sprinklers though the
leaves block a lot of the soil. I know it will eventually drip off the
leaves,
but it will also evaporate. What kind of setups do the other people here
have?
Any help would of course be appreciated.
