Late season run
List
I have to make a late season run on pollinating this year. I got my plants
in the ground around the first week of May which is pretty normal but the
weather just simply was too cold and Murky my plants stayed at the one to three
leaf phase for almost the whole month and then June was worse. Last week of June
the weather switched over night. it has been in the 80's every day and the
Brutal Sunny Southern California Beach sun has been burning my plants so bad one
is almost a loss.
So here it is.
790 Daletas My best plant 300 Sqft Quarter flag with another 200 sqft to
go only produced one female.... that's it !!! it will probably open in three
days. Massive plant one pumpkin and only 8 more feet till I have to terminate
the main vine with no more females in the vine tip..
845 Bobier Second best plant. Severe sun damage but still holding up 300
sqft Xmas tree. with 200 sqft to go setting lots of females now like two to four
on every leaf margin not a true flat vine but just lots of tendrils, females
etc !!! I have one pumpkin pollinated and two more ready in about four days.
712 Kuhn Devastating sun damage also looks like salt burn !! not even one
good leaf. Plant is a 150 sqft quarter flag will pollinate one pumpkin
tomorrow and another in three days. will terminate all growth as soon as I know I
have a pumpkin set.
703 Smith* Best looking plant as it goes for leaves and color but real
small . Main vine is 10 feet long and has only produced one female that was
damaged with no more in the main vine tip. I planted this one in the same mound as
the mother plant am training vines EXACTLY the same as the mother I pollinated
the 703* late hopefully history will repeat its self....
940 Mombert 00 this is my color plant. Real flat vine and getting worse.
main vine is only 6 feet but growing faster then anything around. Will get this
one pollinated late but I just want to do the crosses more then for
competition !!!
Well, if anyone was wondering what I have been up to this is a little
heads up .... OOPS did I forget to mention the 28 other plants I have at the
Satellite patch ??? NOPE just doing a little sand bagging !!!!! wait till you all
see the "73 Smith" YES "73 Smith" HE HE HE HE HE .......
