PNWGPG Pumpkin Patch Tour and Picnic

PACIFIC NORTHWEST GIANT PUMPKIN GROWERS

1ST ANNUAL PUMPKIN PATCH TOUR AND PICNIC
SUNDAY, AUGUST 10TH, 2003

The tour will be a fun way for our growers to get to
know each other better, and serve as a way to give our
newer members some first-hand insights into growing
Giant Pumpkins.

The 2003 Patch Tour will includes visits to 5 gardens
and a tour of the Hidden Valley Compost Facility.
Growers are encouraged to make a day of this event. We
will conclude with a patch tour and picnic dinner at a
75-acre estate in Mossyrock, WA, courtesy of Darrell
and Daulina Roulst.

Other stops on the tour include visits to the gardens
of:

Chris Michalec, starting at 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

your Thomas Guide. The group will then form a caravan
to our next stop at:
Lincoln Mettlers patch in Edgewood @ 10:30 a.m.-11:30

The next stop will be:

Final stop will be at Darrell and Daulina Roulsts for
a patch tour and our summer picnic. The club will
provide beverages, plates and napkins. The Roulsts
are providing the rest of the dinner. If tour guests
would like to bring snacks or appetizers, that will be
great.

When visiting the pumpkin patch gardens please be very
careful about where you walk. Pumpkin growers go to
extremes to avoid compacting their soil and trampling
vines and leaves. Unless told otherwise by your host,
please stay on the perimeter of any cultivated area.
The grower may have paths or access routes, but please
get instructions /permission before venturing beyond
the grassy or compacted area that mark the garden
boundary. The host will lead the tour to point out
things of interest and to answer questions. Hosts may
have light snacks and/or beverages available.

For more information please contact the PNWGPG at:
pnwpumpkins@yahoo.com or any of the tour hosts.
