I thought likewise. When I heard some noise between the shed & fence last
week, I suspected the neighbor's cat...but I was about 8ft from a GOPHER!
(or groundhog or something similar--what's a rockchuck?) The unusual thing
is--I'm smack dab in the middle of the great metropolis of Buffalo, NY!
Neighbor's houses are less than 8ft away. The shed was built over 20 years
ago, on a raised platform about 6-8" high & looks like he's living under it
or something. Only about 10-12" to the fence, some debris & poles & elements
from an old CB antenna between & on ground so can't really get in there to
see what's what. Seen it 2x that day. So ruling out a .22, bring on the
remedies; the path of dirt is near & around the front corner so may wait out
front with a shovel or garden fork... If that don't work, gonna rent & study
Caddyshack.

Thanks for the advice. I'll probably try a combination of these. I
like the idea of sticky traps as I will definately figure out who the
culprit
is. Although I do suspect mice, mole, or voles because gophers, woodchuck,
rockchucks, and rabbits are not generally found around my yard.I'd have to
find a
laundry basket with small enough holes in it to eliminate mice which could
be
difficult.
