On the Cold Road to Splitsville
This morning I caught myself kneeling in front of Medusa (1230
Daletas) trying to get a measurement around the pumpkin. This
is hard enough to do with your eyes open but for fear of
turning to stone from Medusa's glare - I had them closed.
I suddenly realized that the raised bed of sand I made for the
pumpkin made it look like a small altar and there I knelt
before it in the dirt - bowing humbly. This is a holy quest
you know, and my patch is sacred ground.... but, maybe I have
taken things a bit too far.
Ahh, the things I do to appease the Pumpkin Gods.
This must have been seen with some amusement by the Pumpkin
Gods because this morning they favored me by making my 72" tape
too small to go around Little Lilu (1048 Companion) on her 20
day birthday. After bumbling around a bit I came up with a
circumference of 75" - a gain of 6" overnight.
Oh, I know, the Pumpkin Gods like to tease... No doubt I'm yet
again on the cold road to Splitsville.... but, you never know,
this is one pretty pumpkin and a flawless plant. Maybe they
will take pity on me and reward my pathetic groveling this
year.

I really can't tell you much about how Medusa is doing... I'm
too afraid open my eyes and look at the tape....
