Thank-you to all of you's that have responded to my questions and helped me with the answers , I will keep you's posted on the progress I'm making, my pumpkins, two of them now are the size of basketballs, so there really starting to go, the third one is still in the running and catching up, We are just getting some nice rain now, so I'm hopeing this will help as well, That would be just great if I could get a 500lb pumpkin, I would take it :-) Happy growing to All and I look forward to reading your posts, Thank-you Lynda

Lynda,
You can still have a good-sized fruit by Labor Day. I would guess that as a novice you could easily reach 200+ pounds by Labor Day if you keep up with fertilizing. Depending on the genetics of your unnamed seed and your learning curve/green thumb, you could potentially get even bigger. Dave Stelts' 1140 lb. world record in 2000 was pollinated July 19th, weighed October 1...only 74 days old. You have about half that time, so shoot for half the weight...570#. (lol)

Hello To All, First I would like to thank all the people on this group for information you have given us to try to grow a big pumpkin, I read
every post and have learn't a lot, I'm out in Ontario/Canada trying to
grow a no-name alantic giant pumpkin, I find all the information that
comes on the list very helpfull, I have 3 pumpkins that are growing now,
there not to big yet, they just started to grow, so at this date,(little
bit bigger than a large grape fruit) does anyone think I can still get a
big one in time for the fair? The fair is Labour day weekend, is there
any hope for me? My second question is, when do I need to start shading,
and how high off the ground would you suggest to go with it, and what
do you use on top? If anyone would like to see my pumpkin patch, just
email, I have taken a few pics, P.S. How much water should I be giving
the pumpkins, do you's water every day or every other day? Thank-you Lynda
