RE: Injured pumpkin

Craig

This is the first time I've heard of this. Tell me, please, does the
aloe actually heal the splits? Rather than scabbing the splits like a
fungicide powder?

I would normally be reluctant to rub the parts of one plant onto another
because of genetically imbedded poisons (allelopathy), but you are
already doing it, and it sounds like you've been successful. Are you
sure there's nothing in the Aloe that is harmful to cucurbits, and is in
fact benefiting your pumpkins?

Brian: I have been using raw aloe on splits. I pick the leaf and split
it
down the middle. I then rub the clear gel into the wound and leave the
skin
on top to protect from the air and sun. It works especially well on
small
splits. Larger splits require duct tape and aloe.

List,
What do you put on injured pumpkins? I have a split, right at the stem
and vine. I heard of aloe vera, but does it work?
Thx,
