RE: Odd Pumpkin Shape and Color

I learn so much from this board, I had no idea there was a variety like
that! I guess I was just lucky these past few years to get what I expected.

pc,
The trouble with altantic giants is they can produce squash or some very
ugly looking pumpkins. I try to grow the red/orange and get a high % that

way.
This November look for a post for FREE SEEDS from me and I will send you
some, just remind me that you want the red/orange ones. If you want to
look at
my pumpkins from past years...I've gotten better as the years have gone
on.

(I've get 2005 up there soon...already have a 300lber going! woohoo! :-)

Hello,

I'm a first time pumpkin grower. I purchased a package of "Dill's Giant
Atlantic" seeds and have grown a pretty big vine with 3, one week-old
pumpkins.

However, they don't look anything like the pumpkins I'm use to seeing.
Instead of being round and orange, they are long and light-green. They
look
like giant "Butternut Squash.

Is this how "baby" Giant Atlantics look, or am I wasting my time
cultivating
squash?
