Side viners

One of my three plants this year is from a 'proven' seed. I had a pumpkin
swell up quickly on one of the early side vines, and I left her there. Like
to say that I left her to hold the vine down from the wind that attacks from
that direction, but it's really because she so rapidly became such a beauty.
Meanwhile, I determined where my main vine pumpkin needed to be to be far
enough from the stump and began watching for females in that neighborhood.
Set them in turn and began watching to see which of the three would be THE
ONE.
On Saturday I discovered to my embarrassment that my three 'main vine'
ladies are actually on a secondary running parallel to the main.
My question is,
1. Do I go with the best of the three on the late secondary?
2. Or do I pin my hopes on the earlier and therefore larger fruit on the
early secondary?
3. Or do I set the next main vine blossom that opens and shoot for a late
weighoff like Salinas?
4. How does banging my head against a wall sound?
