Jordan,
By grubs I'll assume these are Squash Vine Borers (larval stage) that you
have found in the leaf stalks?
If so, then Borers can enter a main or secondary vine that is buried by
tunneling down a leaf stalk. If the vine affected were before the fruit then
in all cases the fruit will slow. But if enough source (foliage & vine)
exists to keep the fruit moving...it will.
A friend lost his main a couple years ago which left only 200 square feet of
"source" to push it. He still finished at 919 lbs.
Either way, if the fruit is cut off from the crown, the finished weight will
suffer.

Subject: Question
I found a couple grubs today, but the were just making the way in, so I
caught them. I took a quick look around the rest of the patch, but have to
go to work now. Will be spraying Sevin heavily tomorrow.
Is it possible to have some SVB activity in the plant, but still produce a
fairly large specimen if I have buried enough vines?
Thanks
