Small Pumpkin Question

Hi All,
In addition to my giant I am growing Jack O'lantern pumpkins too.  My leaf 
stems are all getting mushy and the leaves are turning yellow or just dying. 
Does anyone know why this is happening?  Thanks for any and all help!
