Without seeing pictures, you probably have one of the following:
1. Bacterial blight caused by cucumber beetles. Action spray with Scimitar
or Warrior T every two weeks. Dying plants will more than likely die, you
may have a chance of keeping the blight from spreading.
2. Squash bugs, they bite the plant and inject a toxin - same treatment as
above.
3. Phytophora - root and stem disease. Bad news if you have it. Only can
treat with a systemic fungicide such as Subdue. Out of the three, I believe
you have number one. I have about 5 acres besides my AG's of squash and
pumpkins. I pretty well see it all. Keep the cucumber beetle under control
and most of the other problems go away.
