I use four 6' posts and stretch a 6'x8' tarp between the posts. The tarp is at an angle to allow the rain to run off. I tie the tarp to the post with electrical ties. Sometimes I will put a tarp on a side where too much sun is still on the pumpkin. No matter how you shade your pumpkin, you want plenty of ventilation around your pumpkin.

I helped to blow my AG last year by not shading it and overdosing onpotassium. This year I am NOT overdosing on potassium and shading my AGs. My question is, in this, my second year of attempting a BIG one, how much shadeis too much shade? How much of the plant can you shade before you flatline it? Pumpkin and how many feet around it? Thanks. Steve. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Pumpkin-growing archives: http://www.hort.net/lists/pumpkins/ To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE PUMPKINS
