What I found particularly interesting was Mr. Warnock's directions for growing a big squash/pumpkin. A lot of what he did is still followed today. Something else that is amazing to me, is what seed stock did he have to work with? What was it's origins?
Because Howard Dill used the Goderich Giant that Warnock grew to create his Atlantic Giant, I would have to say that all giant pumpkins/squash grown today can probably trace their ancestry back to what Warnock grew. It sounds like he was an expert horticulturist and his methods produced a world record squash/pumpkin that stood for 70 years. Indeed a very interesting fellow.
