Short Stem

On my 500-700 Dill plant, I have short stems to the pumpkins. Two of
them have good shape and are really growing but the stems are very
short. I thought about putting foam rubber blocks under the vine to
support the weight of the vine and reduce stem stress. Is there any
suggestion? A third pumpkin on the plant has a better stem length but
is not nearly as big. Should I cull the two bigger pumpkins in hopes of
having better success with the third.
