Okay - here's a good laugh for you all. I've been reading for a couple of weeks now about measuring your pumpkin. I couldn't figure out how these people could lift this giant pumpkin to get the tape around it to measure it! I pondered this. Went out & looked at my pumpkin & scratched my head. Well tonight I took my measuring tape & went to check on my pumpkin. I stared at it for a moment & started to chuckle. Daaaaaaa! Measure around the pumpkin the other way - horizontal. Geezeeee. Guess I was trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. So anyway my pumpkin is 56" around. I pollinated it on July 9. So how am I doing? I've noticed an ant or 2 strolling around my prize possession & am worrying. Is Dursban granuals okay to sprinkle around it? I'm spraying religiously with Seven & Daconil (which I know won't kill ants) - it's getting about the time when the powdery mildew hits too. My giant sunflowers are extremely tall & starting to bloom. Guess I'd better get the ladder out to measure them tomorrow. Anyway - thanks to you all for getting me this far:-) Bev from N.C.
