Covering Pumpkins

Al,
	I sense that there are different opinions as to whether it is
important to build shade/rain covers over your pumpkins.  Last year, after
advice from Norm Craven who said to place 6x6 foot covers over the
pumpkin - I built such wood frames over a couple of my pumpkins.  Do you
think this is helpful and necessary?  From my perspective it keeps the
rain and the sun off... which I think is good.  What is your perspective?
