Re: Culling


I think that if they are both growing so well, and so equally, that the
plant has more than enough energy for both. SO.... leave 'em! Let them both
grow. If one is going to be a great deal larger than the other you'll soon
enough notice -- you won't even have to measure! That's what happened on my
plants - they sorted themselves out. Two pumpkins (one on each plant) so
absolutely out-stripped all the others than measurement was completely
unecessary, they just grew so much bigger than all the others it was
obvious. Keep in mind that there is still some controversy about the
necessity for rigid culling, and also that the plant may surprise you --
one fruit that was growing better and faster than others may slow down or
even stop later in the season, only to be passed by another, slower-growing
one. So just leave them both for now, you don't really have to decide which
to keep and which to cull until a month or so from now.
