July 2nd,
only one pumpkin on each vine set, everything else aborted or did not
pollinate (same as last year, a very uncomfortably narrow window to work
within).
Both Castellucci seeds germinated April 27th, in May 4th.
682.4.....33 inch cir. (at 13.5 ft. out)
733.......32 inch cir. (at 11 ft. out)
terminated the first two side vines at 18 ft. Main is close to 30 and
will terminate at 35 ft out. (the edges of my patch)
Deep watering keeping the plant free from wilt this year. Spraying with
a Methoxyclhor/Daconil mix three times a week with the borer flying
around now. No vine burying. No fertilizing.
Training pumpkins away from the vines has been tricky do to thick
pumpkin stems. Taking it slow.
