Vancouver Island update

My alarm clock was set for 5 a.m this morning.
After one snooze I proceeded outside bleary eyed hoping my neighbours
were not up yet, as I don't think they would understand what I was about to
do.
Well I was a little bit early yet as the selected female flower on my Dill
and the male
on my Lloyd 935 was not quite open yet.

7 a.m back outside and both flowers were in full bloom and all the local
bees were busy
searching for nectar on my wild pea plant. After cutting off the male and a
bit of trimming
I was ready to pollinate.

How long does the pollen take to do its thing?
If I was successful how many days before I notice any growth?
