Jon,
It sounds like the ladies are afraid of competition. I suggest that they face
their fears and take up mud wrestling. Pumpkin growing is a lot like fishing.
You can do it for fun and relaxation or you can do it for money and to set
records. Women don't like to compete with men. It's another fear. In the
sport of pumpkin growing women can compete against men. It's their choice.
