Hello everyone! I'd just joined your great list a couple of days ago and I'm
in awe! There are so many questions I had that have already been answered...I
can't thank you enough! My name is Carla Spahos and I live in Bakersfield, Ca.
I'm a novice gardener...the majority of my experience has taken place with
containers, as I live in a Townhouse without any areas I can plant in. This is
my first year growing pumpkins. I'm trying out some small pumpkins in large
containers. I planted late....July 4th. They germinated on July 9th. (my
birthday!) They are supposed to be early pumpkins and I thought by planting
them in early July they might be ready by the end of October...but I'm not
sure now.. They seem to be doing well...so far. They get plenty of morning and
early afternoon sun....and if it's not too hot, I give them afternoon sun as
well. Would anyone have any advice as to how to care for them in containers?
How many should I have in a 14 inch container? Right now...I have three
growing in each container...but I was thinking just one per container would be
enough. Thanks for any and all advice you can give. Next year we should be in
a "real" house with a "real" yard and that is when I'm going to attempt to
grow some bigger pumpkins. Thanks again!!
