There is normally a 50% chance of frost by Sept 15th in Medicine Hat. Last year
I dealt with it by keeping the pumpkin wrapped in a blanket and heated with an
electric heater as well as turning on the sprinkler at 5 am (after being up most
the night checking the temperature) to ward the frost off the plant itself. It
paid off since I managed to pack another 100 pounds on last years pumpkin in
September.
