You can measure with a piece of yarn or soft string, put a mark on it -
then you can measure the string with a regular tape measure. you can
use the same piece of yarn to measure again and again. the distance
between the dots give you a daily growth chart. I guess if you wanted
you could leave the string under the pumpkin so you don't have to keep
lifting it, or are unalbe to lift it when it is large. you could pre
mark the length of the string at every 6 inches. use a different color
marker for the premarks.
