   There is nothing predictable about the segments, vine distance etc. We have
had World Record holders on side vines. Keep track of the date of pollination
and count out maybe 3 weeks and measure the circumference of the baby pumpkin.
Compare the other babies after the same number of days of growth and make a
decision. If you get pear shaped females with the small end toward the stem,
these are not usually good. It's good to have a large shoulder end near the
stem for the shoulder end is the thickest.
