Great expectations

I'm a city grower too.  If you have an adjoining lawn, cover as much of the vine as you can with temporary soil (you can remove it later). It aids in secondardy root
formation.

Go easy on the Miracle grow - too little is better than too much.

A friend of mine grew a 300 pounder on a mere 50 sq. ft., so you have a chance of producing a pretty good pumpkin! To be on the safe side,  let  two or more mature, in
case one meets with misfortune.

Regarding your other question, pumpkins naturally abort quite often, but several should take.
