Re: Did I do this right?

OUCH !!! OUCH !!! OUCH !!! OUCH !!! OUCH !!!
I'm a little nervous- having to tell you this.

some growers never cut the main vine others cut it 10 to 15 feet past
"the pumpkin", as in bigger than a beach ball. The secondaries ends are
cut 12 to 16 feet out from the main vine- or even longer depending on
your garden size and also if you have a pumpkin set on it. You haven't
heard any talk about "how long you leave the secondaries when they're
cut" because you don't cut them. ( except at the ends )
how many pumpkin are the on you plant?
do you just have one pumpkin on the main vine? how big is it?
How long is you main vine? if it is long enough then it might have
enough energy to still grow a decent pumpkin. how many secondaries did
you cut?
you are not doomed but you might have cut off a lot of growing
potential.
it will be interesting to how your plant and pumpkins grow from this
point on.

next time try "this is what I should do, right?" instead of "did I do
this right?"

Good luck !!! ( you'll need it)

??? General Questions to the Group ???

what is going to happen to his secondaries ?
if the secondaries have a good tap root system will the they be ok and
be able to grow a fruit, will they most likely die off slowly, or just
hang around not really growing more or dying?
how much of the energy that goes into the fruit come from the leaves and
how much comes from the root system ? if a lot comes from the roots
then this isn't too bad a thing.
