They will probably dig through the styrofoam! Late last year we havd a ton of
them ALL OVER near the pumpkins, underneath all of the melons, etc.! Probably
because I added so much rich compost, which brought in worms, which are the
moles favorite food. Have you tried the castor oil? If you want to try it,
don't waste money on the MOLE AWAY stuff at the stores, all they all are is
emusified castor oil solution. You can do the same thing with some Ivory Snow
dish soap, a couple tablespoons of castor oil and a cup or so of water in a
blender until you get a thick mixture. Use 2-3 Tablespoons of this per gallon
of warm water and mix, then pour all over. Supposedly moles are sensitive to
any amont of castor smell or taste and it will keep them away.
Also the dish soap can help stuff, (if you have ever heard Jerry Baker talk,
he goes nuts recommending it for everythng)!
