I know a little about this topic......but you're practically in your own yard
compared to my 43 miles one way commute.!(yes,I know I'm nuts)I visit no less
than twice weekly. After preparing this land and planting the plants I found
out that my new assignment at work was a jobsite 50 miles IN THE OPPOSITE
DIRECTION!!!! Sure puts a damper on the situation.Anyway..here's our
deal....agreed upon before the work started........equal labor,his land,his
horsie poop,his water.My previous years lessons,my seeds,my seed selection.My
equipment(rebars,posts,screens-wind/sun,hoses etc )50-50 on the expenses of
fertilizer etc(give or take). The biggest pumpkin is his to display after all
competitions.Prize money is shared to pay expenses(dreaming).I get the lion's
share of the seeds and the second biggest..all others get shared or
sold..pumpkin widows can enter 3rd and 4th biggest as they are doing all the
stuff we're supposed to be doing.If Regis calls-he's going,..but I get to
toss it off the empire state building on Letterman's show. The bottom line is
he watched me last year and wanted to give it a try but not on his own.I want
to grow more than one but have room for only one.We will enter the specimens
under a joint name going alphabetically. Its definitely a difficult situation
with all the travel .And it will only get worse as one of the fruit is
looking good..will have to visit MUCH more often at this rate!! As I see it
,its a win-win situation over here. In Totoland, you say he said you can enter
it.......use a joint name at least....maybe the Farm stand name....let him
display it at the stand....a good question to ask is-Do you want to do this
again next year?...your answer might influence your action.......if your
smart!!!!!!...Glenn A
